Benevolent by Erin Jensen | A Review

    Benevolent Feature Image

In truth, it has taken me an ridiculously long time to post this review, but by golly, here it is! The tale of how Benevolent came to be in my possession is a quaint one: Erin Jensen, the author, reached out to me, asking if I’d be willing to review her novel. A novel, she explained, that was inspired by the CW series Supernatural. And, more specifically, by Castiel. Did you hear that? A NOVEL INSPIRED BY CASTIEL! Have I not been shouting into the cavern of literature for years, demanding such a treasure?! Is this fate? Am I dreaming? Needless to say, it became clear to me as I read…

Blog Tour Review & Giveaway: The Realm Of Knights (Knights of the Realm #1) by Jennifer Anne Davis

I received this book to review as part of a blog tour organized by Xpresso Tours. All thoughts and opinions are my own. To be honest, Realm of the Knights  isn’t my usual cuppa. The last time I read anything close to a high or epic fantasy was during my Forgotten Realms phase, especially ones with courts or royal families. But Realm of the Knights caught my eye — first (admittedly) by its bold, beautiful cover and second, the major Arthurian-Mulan vibes I was getting. It has taken me a long time to collect my thoughts about this debut book. It’s not that I didn’t like it, because there IS so much to love about Wicked Fox. But I wasn’t sure how I fully felt about it once I turned the final page. There was a period of several months where I didn’t know if I loved it or hated it or fell somewhere in the middle. I want to stress that this undecided feeling isn’t always a bad thing; some of my favorite films are ones that leave me in the middle, uncertain of my feelings and full of conflicted thoughts. I am a…

Book Review: Ever Alice by H.J. Ramsay

Let’s start from the top, er, front. I’m a sucker for covers, I do indeed judge books by them. Ever Alice‘s is simplistic in design, clean-cut and modern. The font is pretty, the colors stand out, but it didn’t really give me the ‘feels’. Now the blurb, oh the blurb, that drew me in. I love a good retelling of classics with a twist. Alice has been deemed mad with her stories of Wonderland and admitted to an asylum. She begins to believe it herself too, until the White Rabbit shows up again. This time, the Queen of Hearts has truly gone mad, and they need Alice to save the…
