1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

The tragedy of TBR piles is they’re like the room or drawer we like to stick everything in; out of sight for too long and they’re forgotten! But generally, when I do dig back into the pile, I start with whatever I’m in the mood for.

For the record, I think it’s safe to say I will perish before I get to the bottom of my TBR pile. It’s that  big.

2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

It depends. Is it by an author I normally like? Did it start out strong? Why am I not loving this book? Chances are…if it starts out awful and continues that way, I’ll put the book down. I just can’t force myself through a book like I used to — it’s a waste of valuable, finite time and energy. BUT if it’s by an author I normally like or it started out strong or is more of a comfort kind of read, I’ll more than likely try to stick it out.

3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

No. It’s not about hitting the numbers for me; reading is all about the experience, and I won’t enjoy it as much if I’m rushing myself to hit a quota. Would I love to hit that goal? Sure! But I’d rather take my time to enjoy what I’m reading — and I’d rather read whatever strikes my fancy than to reorganize my reading schedule to hit goals.

Side note: If I notice I’m not able to hit my goals, I usually lower them to a reasonable number and try again. But most of the time, I do my best, read whatever I love, and take it one chapter at a time!

4. The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?

Webstock Review

I am a patient, cunning creature. I will either: 1) wait for when a matching cover is released OR, if a matching cover is never released, 2) purchase the eBook.

So I guess I don’t really cope?? I just hope for sanity to return to the Realm of Book Covers and, if this fails, just refuse to buy a physical copy 😀

5. Every one and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

There’s always someone else out there who doesn’t like it. I WILL FIND YOU AND EMPATHIZE WITH YOU.

6. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

Depends on where ‘public’ is. When I read We Are Okay by Nina LaCour, I sniffled on the rooftop terrace of my apartment building. Technically, it was a public area, but I let the tears fall quietly.

But would I weep while eating Tacos in the Red Square at college? Nope. Sometimes….certain public areas are too public….while others are not.

7. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!?

love an excuse to reread the first books in a series before devouring the sequel. But because this isn’t a perfect work (and let’s face, college has been killing most of my free time), I will *occasionally* just read a summary or review of the series. Of course, it’s not as satisfying as revisiting the books myself….

8. You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?

9. Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

I beg the Reading Gods for better literature. If that fails, I beg the future Writing Deities for better books. If that fails, I beg all my friends for better recommendations.

And if that fails….I reread books I already love.

10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

ALL OF THEM. There’s no way in hell I’ll be able to read them all right away, but that doesn’t mean I can’t covet them or stare at their covers or take pictures of them for bookstagram.

11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

Oh goodness! So…I am totally guilty of this. It really depends on 1) my reading mood 2) my level of anticipation for the book, and 3) whether or not I click right away with the first chapter.

We Heart It

Complicated, I know! But sometimes it takes me longer to get into certain books due to the way they’re written or maybe my mind isn’t in the right place to read a particular story. I can take months before I even read a book.

Heck. I’m pretty sure there’s one on my shelf I haven’t read at all for years….But if I am pumped for a specific release, I usually devour the book right away, especially if it’s one I’ve been impatiently waiting for.

Wow! We readers sure have a ton of problems! But we love it all ❤️ Reading is such a source of pleasure for me. So even if it’s hell finding the time or I fall into a slump or my TBR is a tower of unconquerable doom….it’s still worth it to me. The joy outweighs the agony 😀  And I hope it does the same for you.

Now, I’m supposed to tag a few lovely peeps. I’m not sure who has taken part in this book tag, but I’m going to invite three of my favorite book bloggers: Breakeven Books, Bec & Books, and Caffeinated Fae!
